Here is my current concept for the darksiders 2 Contest weapon Entry. My idea is to make a hammer out of a large skull of sorts.
If you would like to know more about the contest check it out here!
Also the hammer talks. :D

As artists we all have these wonderful little things called critiques. This is where we go around and try to get some feedback on our work from our peers.
Now I am thinking that most of us want to hear the good, that the work is really awesome and that you are a god at what you do. However! Unless you have been working 5-10 years in the industry you probably are not god like yet. Btw Vitaly Bulgarov is god  anyways…
I think most of us “noobs” realize this deep down inside, after all artists tend to be very critical of their own work. This is why we want people to like what we make, because it helps with our self esteem and makes us feel better about spending all day behind our monitors, even though everyone one else is outside having fun partying and doing other fun things.
I know for me I really, really want to be the very best at what I do (insert Pokémon theme here or any song that gets you motivated) and in order to be the very best I must give myself every possible advantage after all there is ALLOT of competition out there.
REMEMBER: You are only as good as the worse piece in your portfolio.
Now one way to get better is to be constantly asking for feedback on your work as you are working on it. If you never ask for feedback you are setting yourself up for failure. You could be doing something totally wrong or it could look very wrong and you will never know because it looks right to you. Then you go to send your portfolio to a company and they throw it across the room because it looks wrong and or you did it wrong.
Note: I have confirmed from people in the industry that they do in fact use crappy demo reels as Frisbees.
Now people may not always be nice when critiquing your work, thing to remember is not to take it personally. They are saying the thing you made sucks not you as a person sucks.
Take a look at this thread, AtlusZMH is asking for a critique on his portfolio, something that has probably taken allot of time to put together. Scroll down the thread and read Racer445’s comment and then look at how AtlusZMH responded back.

AtlusZMH took the critique like a boss saying thanks and then asking for help on how to improve. Now if he fixes the problem the people watching his demo reel are not going to be thinking about how delicious Cheetos are, but instead thinking about hiring him.
So I recommend to all my digital art followers that you join a forum like polycount and quickly upload your work and or portfolio and get some feedback that is going to help you get that dream job.
I care about you guys; I want all of you to get sweet jobs because along with what you know it’s also about who you know. As long as you work hard and meet awesome people you will get there! ;)
Cheers.
